One thing to note about the Wand Handles in Hogwarts Legacy is that they don’t have a specific location. Yes, there are a few locations where you can come across a specific Wand Handle. But we can’t say that is true for all Wand Handles. From what we have gathered until now, all of the loot in Hogwarts Legacy is randomized. Apart from a few items, you won’t find anything at a specific part of the game.
Even while scouring through Reddit and other forums, there has been no confirmation of any specific location for the Wand Handles. Although there seem to be a few chests where you will get those handles or other items as loot. But, if you were to load a Manual Save game, you can get another different item there.
Wand Handles Locations
As we’ve already mentioned, there are no confirmed locations of Wand Handles in Hogwarts. You’ll come across most of them on your adventures through Hogwarts and its nearby locations. But luckily, we were able to find Wand Handles at a few specific locations. However, we didn’t get to check if they were confirmed locations thoroughly. But from what we have gathered during our research, these are some spots that have a high chance of dropping the Wand Handles. We’ll list them below for you to find them for yourself.
Professor Fig’s Classroom
The first Wand that you’ll come across is when you go to visit Professor Figs for the first time. That is before you have to enter the restricted area of the library to get clues to the mystery. There, the chest is at the back of the room. You’ll find it near the Golden Cage.

Library’s Restricted Section
There is another chest where you will almost always find the Wand Handle. And surprisingly enough, it is found some time after you have acquired the Wand from Professor Fig’s Classroom. The next Wand Handle is found in the Restricted Section of the Library. Once you have gone past the Librarian, where you have to get the key from her Desk, then you will face a few ghosts whom you have to distract.

Secret Frog Statue Room
The next location for the Wand is a secret. And you won’t come across it easily. To get to it, you will first have to open your map. And then, go to the South Wing section. There, look for the Faculty Tower Floo Flame location. That is where you’ll have to start. From there, head directly south, and you’ll come across circular stairs going down. Go down the stairs, and you’ll find a Frog Statue.

That way, you can get your preferred Wand Handle with a simple trick. There is another chest that works with the same mechanics. We’ll explain that in a while.
Lower HogsField
The next chest that we have discovered that contains a Wand Handle is the one found at Lower Hogsfield. There is another chest that can have a random Wand handle for you. It works with the same process as that of the Secret Toad Statue Room.
You’ll find the chest at Lower Hogsfield. To get there, teleport to the Hogwarts South Exit. From there on, you need to continue to the south to get to Lower Hogsfield. There will be a few houses in the area. But we aren’t there to visit the houses or to meet with any of the residents. There is a lake near the town. You need to go into the water.

You don’t have to worry about drowning in the water. It is only knees deep. In the middle of the water, before the small wooden bridge, you will find an upturned Wagon. If you go near it, there is a small chest in the water right next to it. Now make sure to manually save the game if you are looking for any specific Wand Handle. Make a save and then open the Chest. If you get your desired Handle, then good, or else you can load the manual save and try again.

Rinse and repeat until you get your desired Wand Handle at that location. That is the second Chest where you can get random Wand Handles.
Other Wand Customizations
But Wand Handles aren’t the only things that you can customize about your Wands in Hogwarts Legacy. The game has allowed players to fully customize their own wands to their liking. There are tons of options for how you want to have your wands in the game. They can have different Styles, Wood Types, Lengths, Flexibility, and many more. It depends on you how you want to proceed with it.
We’ll discuss each of them individually so you know what you’re getting into. We’re hopeful that you will pick the perfect wand for yourself. Now, remember, these options, like the Wand Handles, are purely cosmetic customizations. The Size or other factors don’t matter at all. You’ll have the same performance with the Wand. It isn’t like that one is powerful with offensive magic and the other is good with defensive magic.
Selecting Wand
Now there are two different methods that you can use to get the perfect Wand for you. That is, you either complete the quiz on the official Wizarding World. Or that you make progress in-game until you reach the point where you get your wand.
For the first method, you will have to sign up on the Wizarding World portal. There, you will have first to make your character. Then, there are a few quizzes that help you determine your house at Hogwarts, your Patronus, and your wand. When you complete the quiz on the Wand, you will get a wand that suits your personality. If you were in the wizarding world, it would sync with you and give you the most powerful spell casts.
Now, if you were to connect your game with the website, you would get the House and the Wand, among many other cosmetics. That is one way to get your preferred wand. The other way includes going to Hogsmeade in Hogwarts Legacy. As you’ll be using a borrowed Wand in the game, you’ll have to get a Wand that is perfect for you. For that, Professor Weasely will suggest that you go and visit Hogsmeade and get your Wand from there.
When you go there, you will visit Ollivanders, the renowned Wand makers of the wizarding world. There, you will have the option to select the perfect Wand for yourself. You’ll get to customize the Wand for yourself with the options that we’ve listed above. Here’s what each of these does.
Wand Style
First, you will have to select the Wand Style. It means what type of Wand you want. There are a total of eight options that you can choose from. They’re each unique wands and can be some powerful wands to cast spells. But remember, these are purely cosmetic options. They won’t affect the performance of these wands at all. Whatever Wand Style you choose, they will all have the same result. Here are all of the options available.
- Notched
- Classic
- Soft Spiral
- Spiral
- Stalk
- Ringed
- Crooked Spiral
- Natural

Wood Type
Once you have selected the perfect Wand Style for yourself, you can then choose the Wood Type for your Wand too. They are the Wood that was used in its creation. In the Wizarding World, each of these wood types has its own unique properties. But in the game, they are again only cosmetic like all other Wand customizations. Choose whatever suits you, and you are good to go.

- Acacia
- Alder
- Apple
- Ash
- Aspen
- Beech
- Blackthorn
- Black
- Walnut
- Cedar
- Cherry
- Chestnut
- Cypress
- Dogwood
- Ebony
- Elder
- Elm
- English Oak
- Fir
- Hawthorn
- Hazel
- Holly
- Hornbeam
- Larch
- Laurel
- Maple
- Pear
- Pine
- Polar
- Red Oak
- Redwood
- Rowan
- Silver
- Lime
- Spruce
- Sycamore
- Wine
- Walnut
- Willow
- Yew
Wand Length
The Wand Style and its Wood aren’t the only factors to determine the power of a Wand. The length of the Wand plays an important role as it helps determine what type of a person the Wielder is. There are a lot of options available for the Length of the Wand. In the game, they are between 9 ½ inches to 14 ½ Inches. The length changes every quarter of an inch.
But that’s not all, there are Wands that are even smaller than nine inches or bigger than fifteen. Even then, we’re happy with what we got with our wand at Ollivanders.
Flexibility
Next up, we have the Flexibility of the Wand. Now you might be wondering what flexibility we are talking about. is it how much the Wand can bend when required? No, that’s not the flexibility that we’re talking about. The flexibility here means how much the Wand is willing to bend to its owner.
Often, a few Wands are quite unyielding. They often don’t cast the magic that is required. But if a Wizard or Witch is able to cast powerful spells from an unyielding Wand, that means that they are quite accomplished. But then again, none of that matters in Hogwarts Legacy, as it doesn’t have any such concept. The Wands customizations are purely cosmetic.
Core
The last thing that is on our list is the most important for any Wand, and that is the Core of the Wand. It gives the Wand its characteristics. What type of Core the Wand has will determine its type and how it can be used. That being said, there are a total of three Cores that Ollivanders use at their shop. That is because, according to Garrick Ollivander, only they are the only Wands that are of the quality that he’d like to sell.
These cores are Unicorn Hair, Dragon Heartstring, and Phoenix Feather. Even though they have their unique abilities, in the game, these are purely cosmetic as they don’t have any real effect on the performance.
Unicorn Hair
The Unicorn Hair produces consistent magic. They are faithful Wands as they remain attached to their owners. But they aren’t as powerful as the other two cores used by Garrick Ollivander.

Dragon Heartstring
The Dragon Heartstring produces Wands that are the most powerful of all. They are capable wands that learn quite quickly among all types. The Wand stays loyal to the owner that won it from its previous owner.

Phoenix Feather
As for the Phoenix Feather, it is the rarest core type. The core is capable of the greatest magic. But unlike the Unicorn or Dragon core, the Phoenix core wand takes a lot of time to master.

Final Words
Hogwarts Legacy brings a lot that was missing to the Harry Potter universe. It isn’t set during the time of Harry Potter, but still, there are tons of things that you can do.
